The long conversations between friends, the fiesta major concerts or the place of the first date. These are just some of the experiences they have had citizens in Plaça del Poble since its creation in 1982 and that they will always remain in the collective imagination of a space that in them coming years and decades will continue to have the same function but with a renewed look. With this background idea, one of them was officially inaugurated yesterday most emblematic places in the country after the tweaks made in the last months and the controversies generated by leaks in the Vinyes car park and the lack of shade.
Under a single justice that did not prevent theattendance of 400 peoplethe institutional act had a character markedly symbolic and festive. Only the senior consul, Sergi González, took the lead in the most political part with the ceremonial ribbon cutting and a short speech that, all told, only contained references to the communal character of the space. “It is a meeting place, coexistence and culture. It has accompanied several generations, and everyone remembers it according to its mood. In this square there is a thousand memories that build the identity of a town”, he affirmed Gonzalez.

The consul dedicated a message for those who go toremove the original concrete structure at the beginning of the 80s, emphasizing that “it has become one of the most beloved spaces in our parish“. And he also emphasized the transformation process of the square, ensuring that the objective was not only to renovate a physical space, but to make it friendlier, accessible and green for citizens. Finally, Gonzalez he had one message for neighborstraders and citizens, to whom it goes Thank you for your patience and understanding during work.
In the most symbolic aspect, the Monsignor Ramon Sarries blessed the square and then came the festive colophon, with traditional dances and the Counterpass of Andorra by Esbart Dansaire. Precisely, this entity already played a leading role inyear 1982 at the inauguration of the original squareand yesterday 44 years laterled the dance again on this same stage. For this reason, the consuls presented a gift of recognition to the director, Maria Ángeles Velandoand also to the musician and composer, David Sanz.
Beyond the authorities of the municipality of Andorra la Vellaother political personalities of different colors were not missing at the event, such as Head of Government, Xavier Espot, or the Minister of the Presidency, Conxita Marsolin addition to the leader of the minority in the General Council, Cerni Escalé, and the president of the Social Democratic Party, Pere Baró. All of them participated in the final dance together with many of the attendees who gradually joined the dance until they formed a large circle. The celebration continued in the afternoon, with children’s games, the traveling show Zeppelin with the company La Baldufa and the concert by Manu Guix and Elena Gadel, which served to put the final point at one festive day with activities for the entire population.
