The well-known Orava politician Igor Janckulík, who is the vice-chairman of the Christian Democrats, also a member of the National Council and at the same time of the Žilina County, is facing unpleasant attacks. They were launched at him by unknown people hiding under the name of one of the political parties. They claim that he had a “crush” on the ministerial seat before the other parliamentary elections, but since he didn’t get it, he started behaving like a scorned lover.

Opposition MP Igor Janckulík from KDH
Lynč na Janckulík launched a Facebook account called Smer – SSD Námestovo District. After a few hours of publishing the other status there are hundreds of comments and thousands of “likes” under it on the social network. He begins with the words that “Minister Janckulík attacks Jozef Ráž again”. The following is a longer text, which claims that Igor Janckulík has a problem – not with traffic, but with his own ego.
“Did you know that before the parliamentary elections in 2023, he was so convinced that he would be the Minister of Transport that he allowed himself to be addressed as “Mr. Minister”? But when he found out after the election that he wouldn’t be, he started behaving like a scorned lover and still hasn’t recovered from it,” the user of the account says.
Igor Janckulík, deputy, KDH Igor Janckulík is a prominent personality in Orava.
“His incessant attacks on the Minister of Transport Jozef Ráž have nothing to do with expertise. It is just pure frustration and envy of a person who cannot digest defeat,” he continued. “Janckulík likes to present himself as the greatest transport expert, but the only thing he has done for Slovak roads in his fourteen years of political activity is to drive on them and yell at those who actually repair them,” he noted. At the same time, he added that while this “bottleneck” produces one offensive status after another, the department of transport under the leadership of Ráž delivers results that people can see directly in the field.
Janckulík: I don’t have bloodshot eyes
Janckulík himself told Pravda that he never allowed himself to be addressed as “Mr. Minister”. He claims that he never talked about his ambition to become the head of the Department of Transport. “When you look back, that site is trolling me for something I didn’t do,” he pointed out. “The paradox is that after yesterday’s committee for public administration and regional development, where the improvement of safety on the railways and the introduction of body cameras were discussed, the minister sent me a thank-you text saying that I led the committee very correctly,” he said.
It is said to be strange that the creators of the mentioned content, who in the other post responded to the subject of body cameras, wrote the complete opposite. “The minister is praising me. According to him, I organized and led the committee well, but they say that I am attacking him. It is really strange,” Janckulík pointed out. He emphasized that he himself does not only deal with traffic issues. “I solve regional problems, from health care with a shortage of doctors, to social issues with missing places in homes for the elderly,” he stated.

He considers the mentioned “relentless attacks” on Ráž to be nonsense. “Just look at my speeches in parliament or my statuses on social networks. You won’t find anything like that there,” he says. He criticized the repair of a road there maybe sometime last October, but he is convinced that normal criticism, within the limits of decency, is perfectly fine.
“It’s all purposeful. It’s more of an attack on my person, because they know that I’m strong in Orava. That’s why they need to discredit me,” he thinks. However, he has no idea who is hiding behind the affected account. “I also wrote to them, I wanted to meet with them, but they did not respond,” he claims.
“They accuse me of something there. Námestovo as a city has nothing to do with it,” he emphasized. He assumes that these are people “from above” who fear his possible candidacy for the Žilina mayor’s office. He did not deny that he is considering this possibility, but he has not yet made a final decision.
“It’s precisely because of such false attacks that people stop having fun. But they won’t break me, let them write what they want,” he pointed out. “Someone here is still misleading. After all, everyone knows that when the minister does something good, I praise him. And when I criticize him, it’s normal – I don’t have bloodshot eyes,” he underlined.
“Some people even tell me that I express myself like a bully because I don’t know how to argue with them. But I’m not a fan of aggressive communication, so when I don’t like something, I prefer to point it out politely. When the problem is solved, I say thank you and we move on,” added Janckulík.
