AL ASHKHARAH: Al Ashkharah festival 2026 continues to reinforce its position as one of Oman’s leading summer tourism events, attracting more than 14,000 visitors during its first week and highlighting the growing appeal of Al Ashkharah as a preferred seasonal destination. The event has become an important platform for promoting domestic tourism, stimulating local economic activity and showcasing the governorate’s cultural and tourism assets.
The women’s programme drew strong attendance and featured interactive competitions, prize giveaways, theatrical performances and entertainment shows, alongside the screening of the festival’s promotional film highlighting Al Ashkharah’s tourism potential and the objectives of the annual event.
Visitor Moza bint Salim al Kindi described the women-only programme as a thoughtful initiative that reflected the organisers’ understanding of community needs. “The festival offers a comfortable environment for families while providing quality programmes that combine entertainment with Omani heritage. The diversity of activities encourages us to return every year and supports domestic tourism by creating enjoyable experiences for visitors of all ages,” she said.
Another visitor, Amina bint Rashid al Ghailani, praised the diversity of participating institutions, noting that the event goes beyond entertainment.
“What impressed me most was the integration of educational, cultural and commercial activities in one venue. Visitors can enjoy performances while also learning about government services, investment opportunities and community initiatives, making the festival both enjoyable and informative,” she said.
Government and private sector participation has continued to enrich the visitor experience through a range of awareness and promotional exhibitions. The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism is showcasing Oman’s tourism destinations and promoting travel experiences, while telecommunications companies are highlighting digital transformation initiatives and smart services. Hay Al Falah Project is presenting its latest residential developments and investment opportunities.
Other participating organisations, including the Consumer Protection Authority, road safety agencies and commercial banks, are offering awareness programmes covering consumer rights, traffic safety, financial literacy and banking solutions for individuals, entrepreneurs and small and medium enterprises.
