MUSCAT: Northern Oman is expected to receive above-normal rainfall in October and November, while temperatures across the Sultanate of Oman are forecast to remain above their climatic averages throughout October, November and December, according to the Civil Aviation Authority’s seasonal outlook.
The October 2026 bulletin, issued by the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre, outlines monthly rainfall and temperature expectations for the final three months of the year.
October usually brings cooler weather as Oman prepares to welcome winter, but hot and humid conditions continue in Muscat and other parts of the country.
For October, rainfall is expected to exceed the climatic average in northern Oman. Most other parts of the country are forecast to receive rainfall close to their usual levels, except coastal areas overlooking the Arabian Sea, where below-normal rainfall is anticipated.
The November outlook also indicates above-normal rainfall over the northern part of the Sultanate of Oman. Rainfall across the remaining areas is expected to be around the climatic average.
In December, rainfall is forecast to remain close to normal across most of Oman. However, the northern part of the country has a chance of receiving above-normal rainfall.
The temperature outlook shows a consistent pattern across all three months. Temperatures are expected to remain above the climatic average in October, November and December throughout the Sultanate of Oman.
The bulletin presents rainfall and temperature expectations relative to climatic averages. It does not specify rainfall totals, temperature ranges or the dates on which individual weather systems may affect the country.
The centre said seasonal bulletins will be issued monthly to provide an initial indication of weather conditions over longer periods.
It stressed that these outlooks do not replace regular short- and medium-range weather bulletins, which should continue to be followed for more immediate forecasts and updates.
