The negative management of FIFA, under the supervision of President Gianni Infontino, is growing dramatically.
Perhaps the latest of FIFA’s foolishness, for which Infontino is responsible, is the cancellation of the red card that was shown to American international player Folarin Balogun, against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the round of 16 of the World Cup, last Thursday.
What strengthened the allegations of FIFA’s lack of impartiality and ignited the controversy was that US President Donald Trump thanked the Infontino Authority for the decision to cancel the penalty. Striker Folarin Balogun can play against his national team against Belgium this Tuesday, in the round of 16.
In the face of this critical situation, Gianni Infotino rushed to save the furniture, and said in a statement published by FIFA on Monday: “I read the decisions of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee as soon as they are published. Sometimes they surprise me, sometimes I agree with them, and sometimes I do not. But what I will always do is respect these decisions and the independence of the bodies that make them. Whether we personally like the decision or not, this does not matter. Respecting independent institutions and the rule of law is what protects the integrity of our competitions and the credibility of FIFA.” Constantly.”
Note that Infontino immediately expressed his dissatisfaction, after the Senegal team won the African Cup of Nations on the 18th of last January, and put strong pressure on “CAF” to award the continental title – on a plate and after the lack of “food” (for a period of two months / the middle of the following March) – to the Marrakesh team!
