
This project is financed from the development budget of the Ministry of Public Affairs and is scheduled to be completed within two years.
The project’s opening ceremony was attended by Mullah Abdul Khaliq Haji Khalid, Head of Helmand Community Affairs, Kajaki and Sangin district governors, officials of related institutions, scholars, tribal leaders and many residents of the area.
Helmand Department of Public Works and Construction Engineer Gul Ahmed Ghause said that this bridge will be 280 meters long and 10 meters wide.
He added that after the completion of the bridge, both sides of the Helmand River will be connected, safe and easy travel will be provided for the people of the northern districts, the access of patients to health centers will be improved, the transportation of agricultural products will be faster and commercial activities will be expanded.
Residents of the area have welcomed the project and said that due to the lack of a suitable bridge, they have been facing problems in terms of transportation, business and emergency health services for years.
They expressed hope that with the completion of this project, the daily problems of the people will be solved and the economic and social development of the region will be accelerated.
