A 41 year old man died on this Tuesday morning inside a shelter of the Ministry of Social Development (You measure), located in Ruperto Pérez and Concordia, in the La Teja neighborhoodas confirmed by sources from the Montevideo Police Headquarters to The Observer.
According to what was first reported by Underlined (Channel 10), the case is being investigated as “doubtful death”after the man reported having been attacked hours before his admission.
The victim, a homeless person, was found at night by Mides personnel who, after listening to the man’s story, requested the assistance of emergency personnel.
After treating him, the ASSE medical team told the portfolio workers that the situation did not warrant a transfer to a health center and that he could be admitted to a shelter.
After admission, ASSE assured that the shelter staff called a private emergency to assess their situation. However, The medical workers considered that the transfer was not appropriate.
Finally, during the early hours of the morning, the private medical team returned to the center. Around 6:30 a.m. They found the man already deceased.
Scientific Police carried out the corresponding tests at the shelter, while police officers work together with the Mides to clarify the circumstances of the event.
Authorities are seeking to determine if the injuries reported by the victim are linked to his deathas well as identifying those possibly responsible for the attack.
