In the meeting held for the purpose of signing this agreement, the first vice president of the Bank of Afghanistan, Sediqullah Khalid, said that through such agreements, the basis for providing suitable and diverse Islamic financial services to the citizens is provided, and the opportunities to access financial resources in the field of financing small, small and medium enterprises are expanded.
Khalid added that according to the agreement, technical and professional support will be provided to banks and financial institutions in the initial stages, and also, in this phase, five banks and one small financing institution will be given free aid worth about one million US dollars, to be used in the financing of small, small and medium enterprises, and this series will continue.
According to him, in the next stages, all the banks and financial institutions that meet the specified conditions will benefit from these grants and related facilities. Also, for returning citizens who have lived as refugees in other countries before; Attention should be paid to the establishment of small businesses and their financing.
The First Vice President of the Bank of Afghanistan said that the financial and banking sector of the country has grown significantly recently and the Bank of Afghanistan is trying to provide suitable financing opportunities for the citizens, in order to develop economic activities on the one hand and create job opportunities on the other hand.
It was said that according to the said agreement, joint cooperation will be done in the fields of strengthening the financial sector, expanding access to financial resources of small, small, medium and large enterprises, promoting Islamic financial services and increasing the capacity of financial institutions. Also, technical and professional assistance, training programs and necessary capacity building opportunities will be provided to banking and non-banking financial institutions.
In the said agreement, the development of cooperation in the areas of strengthening the transparency, accountability and sound administration of the financial sector and increasing the effectiveness of guarantee mechanisms based on Islamic financial products is also emphasized.
Roger Thomas Peltzer, head of the Umna delegation of the institution, also spoke at the meeting and emphasized the importance of continuing and developing the cooperation between the Bank of Afghanistan and “ACGF” and said that they are committed to developing cooperation in the relevant fields.
It is worth mentioning that the purpose of signing the said agreement is to create a regular framework for cooperation between the two sides in strengthening Afghanistan’s financial sector, expanding access to Islamic financial services and providing financial resources for financing the country’s small, small and medium enterprises.
