Twelve people died in the northwest of Haiti due to the rains of the last three days, which also caused significant material damage, the Departmental Directorate of Civil Protection reported this Tuesday.
The material damage have been considerable, according to a report from the agency, which indicated that several hundred homes were flooded in the region, a situation that could be complicated due to the rains continuing to fall.

A cold front established itself over Puerto Rico this Tuesday and could cause rain in the departments of North, Northeast, Northwest, Grand’Anse and Southeast, according to a bulletin published during the day by the National Center of Meteorology.
During the next Wednesday and Thursday, the Precipitation could intensify in the departments of the West and the Southeast, at the end of the day and during the night,” the meteorological bulletin added.
The rains could aggravate the situation in the country, where the number of people displaced by violence and instability reached “unprecedented levels” last year, with more than 1.4 million people forced to leave their homes, the highest number ever recorded, according to data from institutions such as the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
