The National Authority for Transparency and Access to Information (Antai) announced the start of 10 ex officio investigations against municipalities that maintain zero compliance with their publication obligations in the National Active Transparency Platform.
According to the entity, these actions respond to possible non-compliance in access to public information, which represents a serious failure to guarantee transparency in state management, as established by Law No. 6 of January 22, 2002.
Antai indicated that it has reiterated on multiple occasions to public institutions the importance of publishing timely and truthful information on the management and use of public funds.
In that sense, he highlighted that accountability is a fundamental pillar to strengthen citizen trust and consolidate democracy.
The institution explained that the investigations seek to determine the corresponding responsibilities and ensure compliance with current regulations regarding access to information.
Likewise, Antai reiterated that transparency is not optional, but a legal duty and an ethical commitment to citizens, which is why it urged public entities to comply with their obligations and citizens to exercise their right of access to information.
