The intense and persistent rains recorded in much of the country have caused millionaire losses in the agricultural and poultry sectors of the provinces Valverde and Monte Cristidirectly affecting dozens of producers, in addition to causing significant damage to infrastructure and homes.
In the municipality of Villa Vásquez, the mayor Jenrry Castro reported on the damage caused by the downpours in different parts of the district. Among the most relevant damages, the collapse of a wall at the Antulio Martínez baseball parkas well as flooding on several roads and damage to homes located in sectors such as La Colonia, Barrio Sur and the city centerspecifically in Liberty Avenue.
“The collapse of the play wall was caused by heavy rains and the progressive deterioration of the infrastructure, which requires being completely rebuilt,” explained the mayor.

Castro also pointed out that the sewage system collapsed in the La Colonia area, a situation aggravated by the accumulation of solid waste carried away by the waters. “From early hours we remained on the ground, monitoring each situation to respond promptly and effectively,” he assured.
According to complaints from the affected producers, onion crops and other crops have suffered severe losses due to the soil saturation and floodingwhich has considerably reduced productive capacity in both provinces.
The impact also extends to the poultry sector, where damage is reported in chicken farms, compromising the production of eggs and meat, fundamental activities for the local economy.
In the community of Laguna Salada, Valverde provincethe onion producer Manuel Cruz Rodríguez He reported that he lost his entire crop after rains and a strong hailstorm. He explained that some 38 planted fields were completely flooded. Given this situation, he called on the Government, through the Department of agriculture, to come to the aid of the affected producers.
Likewise, another significant case was recorded in the poultry sector of the same community, where more than 11,000 chickens drowned after a ravine overflowed and flooded a farm owned by Juan Antonio Cerdawho also requested urgent intervention from the authorities.
