
The ComexPerú unanimously elected its new Board of Directors for the period 2026–2028, appointing Enrique Gubbins as president of the business union, in a stage that will seek to reinforce the country’s competitiveness and economic development agenda.

Gubbins replaces Alonso Rey, who led the institution between 2024 and 2026. The new senior staff will be accompanied by Guillermo Ferreyros as first vice president and Gianmarco Tagliarino as second vice president.
The appointment occurs in a context in which business associations seek to have a greater impact on the design of public policies aimed at improving Peru’s competitiveness. In that line, Gubbins advanced that his management will be focused on strengthening that role.
“I assume this appointment with great responsibility and with the commitment to continue working on the formulation of public policies that contribute to the growth and development of all Peruvians,” he said.
He new president of ComexPerú He has a long history in the business sector and in the union itself. An industrial engineer from Texas A&M University, he had already presided over the institution between 2000 and 2002, in addition to being a member since 1998.
Throughout his career, he has held management positions in companies linked to sectors such as industry, energy and logistics, including Sudamericana de Fibras, Metalúrgica Peruana, Aceros Chilca, Olympic Perú, Conecta Retail, Financiera Efectiva and Tecnofil. Likewise, he has served on boards of public entities such as EsSalud and the National Port Authority, and participated in the APEC Business Advisory Council for more than a decade.
The 2026–2028 Board of Directors will be made up of more than 30 representatives of the business sector, reflecting the diversity of industries that the union brings together. In addition, the former presidents of the institution will participate as guests, including Alonso Rey himself, along with figures such as Julia Torreblanca and Alfonso Bustamante.
With this replacement, ComexPerú begins a new stage in which it will seek to consolidate its role as an articulator between the private sector and the State, in a context marked by economic challenges and the need to promote reforms that strengthen investment and growth.
