

The gendarme Argentinean Nahuel Gallo traveled ten kilometers in the Supernova 10K race, in Vicente López, province of Buenos Aires, wearing the light blue uniform that the Venezuelan government imposes on prisoners at El Rodeo I. To complete his message, the runner wore a black hoodie and a t-shirt with a clear demand: “Free all the political prisoners and foreigners”.
Gallo knows well the weight of that uniform, because survived 448 days of kidnapping under the control of Chavismo before regaining his freedom. “I still feel trapped because until I see that everyone is free I will not stay calm,” declared the athlete at the end of the test in the province of Buenos Aires.
Despite having recovered his life and his family, the gendarme insists that the world must not forget the situation in Venezuela. Gallo explained that the detention center Rodeo I still holds 23 foreigners in captivity, among them the Argentine lawyer Germán Giuliani. The runner recalled that the total number of political prisoners exceeds 500 people and denounced the recent repression that occurred last Thursday in Caracas.
Return to the slopes after the kidnapping
For Gallo, who has more than ten years of experience in athletics, returning to competitions represented one of his greatest desires during the days of confinement. The athlete described as “inexplicable” and “ugly” the fact that a government unjustly accuses a person of crimes they did not commit.
After crossing the finish line, the gendarme reaffirmed his commitment to his former cellmates. Gallo assured that he will continue his sporting and social struggle until the last of the foreign and Venezuelan detainees leave the prisons of the Caribbean country.
