A judge on Thursday declared a mistrial and set a new trial date in the case of a Jamaican woman accused of killing her four-year-old son.
Faydeen Aspinall faces a charge of manslaughter in the March 6, 2024 death of Kamari Aspinall.
Prosecutors allege that Aspinall is responsible of causing the death of the child, who died from axphysia.
Aspinall, who is on bail, has denied the allegation.
Justice Guillimina Archer-Minns discharged the jury of eight women and one man after ruling that Aspinall could not have a fair trial after she made a prejudicial outburst before the panel.
Aspinall caught her court-appointed attorney Sonia Timothy-Knowles off-guard when she made the remarks before any evidence was heard in the case.
Aspinall will now be tried in July.
Bradford McKenzie, Max Julien and Carla Reid were the prosecutors.
