Within the framework of World No Tobacco Daythe Center for Comprehensive Addiction Care (CAIA) of the Benito Juárez mayor’s officein coordination with the Institute for the Care and Prevention of Addictions (IAPA), held the talk “Nicotine consumption: a view from public health and community prevention in youth”, at the Mixcoac Social Development Center.
The activity aimed to raise awareness among the youths about the risks associated with nicotine consumption in its different presentations, as well as promote healthy environments and strategies prevention from the community.
The mayor Luis Mendoza has reiterated his administration’s commitment to promoting public policies aimed at addiction prevention and the comprehensive well-being of young people in the district.
“In Benito Juárez we work every day to take care of our youth. Preventing nicotine consumption means protecting their healthits development and its future; That is why we promote informative and community actions that generate awareness and responsible decisions,” he highlighted.
The talk was given by Inti Barrientos, who explained in a clear and accessible way the implications of the consumption of this substance in the public healthhighlighting its impact on the physical and mental healthas well as the importance of strengthening preventive actions from early ages.
During the event, the attendees actively participated, answering questions and reflecting on the influence of new forms of consumption, such as electronic devices.
