Martyr Al-Hafiz, May 7, 2026 (SPS) – Today, Thursday, member of the National Secretariat and Commander of the Fifth Military Region, Al-Hassan Bouchalka, supervised the launch of activities to commemorate the National Day of the Sahrawi People’s Liberation Army, which coincides with the 53rd anniversary of the outbreak of the armed struggle.
The event activities were held at the district headquarters, in the presence of the Central Director of Army Security, Muhammad al-Hussein Abdullah, the Deputy Commander of the Fifth Military District, Hamma al-Buniyah, and the officers and fighters of the Fifth Military District.
The activities began with reading the opening of the book, out of mercy for the souls of our righteous martyrs, and listening to the revolution’s anthem, “Fire and Iron.”
In his speech on the occasion, the member of the National Secretariat and the district commander, Al Hassan Bouchalka, welcomed the guests, speaking about the significance and connotations of the anniversary of the outbreak of the armed struggle and the National Army Day, as they are a historical milestone that recalls the beginnings of the armed struggle that was launched in difficult circumstances and with limited human and material capabilities. Despite this, the Sahrawi people, led by the Sahrawi People’s Liberation Army, were able to rise to the challenge in order to impose their presence and build their national entity, the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, which has become an irreversible reality.
The events also included an intervention by the Central Director of Army Security, Brother Muhammad Al-Hussein Abdullah, in which he stressed that the occasion constitutes an opportunity to confirm and renew the pledge to our righteous martyrs, to move forward in their path until the entire country is liberated and national sovereignty is extended over it.
For its part, the Central Directorate of the Political Governorate presented an intervention centered on the importance of the event, in addition to addressing the current situation and the challenges it presents that require everyone to join forces, close ranks, and permanently cling to the goals, principles, and starting points of the immortal May 20 Revolution, until imposing our national choices.
The event also included honoring a number of martyrs and wounded in the region, in addition to showing a documentary tape that dealt with an aspect of the history and exploits of the Sahrawi People’s Liberation Army. The tape also included a glimpse of the training period that the district recently underwent at the Shahid Haddad military base. (SPA)
