The total capacity of the four student dormitories in Zagreb is about 7,500 places, and the largest and noisiest Zagreb student dormitory, or rather a settlement or complex, is “Stjepan Radić”, the widely known Sava with its approximately 4,000 residents. There is no student we talked to who did not place Sava in the context of the Maltese “Croatian version of New York”, “the city that never sleeps”. Because the student dormitory on the Sava – and it is not necessary to explain why it got this colloquial name – is truly the liveliest and most dynamic student settlement.
If there was a simple way to describe life, residents, facilities, appearance, environment and everything that the largest student dormitory offers, not only in Zagreb and Croatia, but also in the entire region, it would boil down to a slightly worn-out phrase – “there’s nothing there.”
