SAN MARINO – Future Republic intervenes on yet another postponement of the signing of the association agreement, which after yesterday’s postponement of COREPER, is postponed again. “May 6, according to the calendar of the State Congress, would have been the turning point for the finalization of the Association Agreement with the European Union.
Unfortunately yesterday we learned, not from the government but from an information site of the Republic of San Marino, that things have gone differently for the umpteenth time.
“We will evaluate whether the Bulgarian position is technical or obstructive” says now, after the defeat, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, who evidently does not have the slightest idea of what is actually happening in Brussels and beyond, given the reassurances given to the Foreign Affairs Committee last week and the press statements prior to May 5th.
In a panic, what do the government and the majority do? They unleash the usual foreign blog, the one paid for with public money and close to various Secretaries of State and the leaders of the majority parties, to construct a bizarre and crazy theorem.
Do the government and the majority really think that the Starcom affair is irrelevant to what is happening? And why are the majority and government setting up barricades to prevent the commission of inquiry from starting on a parallel level?
Wasn’t the foreign blog the one invoked by the father of the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs which could be useful in unblocking the sale of the bank to the Bulgarian group? Didn’t the Congress of State stubbornly want to level all the mountains in order to be able to sell the bank in question to the Bulgarian group, freeing up every avenue and giving approval to the operation?
The government remains inadequate to lead the country in this delicate phase and the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs is the stand-in for a government and a majority that face gigantic problems with unprecedented superficiality. They celebrate agriculture in country style for a weekend with dancing and wheel spinning and the following week they cry because they realized that Bulgaria, a member of the European Union, has vetoed the Association Agreement for the Republic of San Marino and Andorra.
These are brutally the facts and here the government and its majority are up to their necks in it, with high political and institutional responsibilities and with environments in our institutions that have played a role of total ambiguity.
If the government’s approach is the one announced by Luca Beccari, there is no reason to be optimistic. And we would like our government to tell us what idea Italy, a fundamental country for us also in relations with the European Union, has of what is happening. But do our government members talk to Italian ministers? Nothing is known to us, not even a photo is available.
The legal case relating to Starcom it will be clarified, at least for San Marino, by our court. On the other hand, in the absence of a commission of inquiry, the foreign blog close to the government is working on the political case to throw smoke bombs and hide an embarrassing and disarming truth, namely that the government and majority are up to their necks in the Bulgarian issue. And that their handling of the matter now precludes the signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union, which Repubblica Futura continues to consider essential for the future of our country. It is time for the government and the majority to take responsibility for this total failure”, concludes RF.
