Between its colonial architecture, its culture and a history that dates back to the time when the second capital of Guatemala was established, San Pedro Las Huertas opens its doors to national and foreign tourists during the next Paseo con Encanto.
This village, located three kilometers south of the center of Antigua Guatemala, will welcome visitors with unique activities, where local talent and culture will be the protagonists of this tour.
The Charming Walk seeks to expose and share the culture, tradition, history and architecture of the community, which is why activities such as music, crafts and gastronomy have been prepared for visitors.
Inocente Cutzán, councilor of the Municipality and president of the Economy and Tourism Commission of the Municipal Council of Antigua Guatemala, highlighted that this walk is part of a project of guided tours around the Colonial City, which seeks to decentralize tourism from the urban area.
For this third tour, one of the attractions will be the Catholic temple, dedicated to the apostle Saint Peter. This building, built in 1672, preserves features of the 17th century baroque style, such as its Solomonic columns. The building replaced a previous structure, built in 1541, with a simpler design, according to newspaper data from Prensa Libre.
This space, which keeps richness and color, will also have transportation points from the center of Antigua Guatemala. “We created these spaces because we are convinced that knowing our history and supporting our people strengthens the identity and prosperity of the communities,” highlights the city council in its invitation to visit this place.
