The American airline American Airlines, which was the first to receive authorization from the government of donald trump at the beginning of March to fly to the Caribbean country, indicated on Thursday, April 9, 2026 that it wants to resume direct flights to Venezuela from April 30, if it obtains the necessary approvals.
The permit is part of a period of thawing of relations between both countries since the capture of Nicolás Maduro by US forces at the beginning of the year.
“American continues to work with government authorities in the United States and Venezuela to resume service,” the company explained in a statement. Its intention is to operate Embraer 175 aircraft between Miami and Caracas through its subsidiary Envoy Airlines once a day.

Envoy Airlines had submitted a request on February 13 to resume its trips between Miami and Caracas. The US authorization, which also includes flying to the city of Maracaibo, is valid for two years.

American Airlines began its routes with Venezuela in 1987 and was the most important US airline to operate to that country before suspending flights in 2019.
