The Committee on Health, Women’s Affairs, Family, Social Affairs and Disabled Persons at the Assembly of People’s Representatives will hear, tomorrow Thursday, the Tunisian Union of Private Pharmacy Owners on the subject of a bill presented by 10 deputies and relating to the food supplements industry.
This bill provides for a set of provisions aimed at organizing the food supplement manufacturing sector in Tunisia and defining quality standards in order to guarantee the reliability of the products available on the market. These standards cover in particular the manufacturing, packaging, storage, conservation, transport and distribution processes, as well as the obligation to provide clear and accurate information to consumers.
Made up of 54 articles, the text applies to all stakeholders in the food supplement production chain, including companies and establishments responsible for their manufacture, as well as companies and individuals who market them or purchase them online via e-commerce platforms.
According to the explanatory document, this legislative initiative aims to protect the national industrial fabric in the face of threats linked to vagueness and the absence of a legal framework governing this sector. It also intends to remove the obstacles hindering its development and protect it against informal players, by setting clear rules for access to the market. The text also aims to offer Tunisian investors guarantees in accordance with the new Investment Code, in order to further stimulate investments and conquer new export markets.
