Marlon Ochoasuspended advisor of the National Electoral Council (CNE), reported that he will not attend to the impeachment summons that the National Congress made to him yesterday in a plenary session.
The official argued that his attendance at the summons is unnecessary, under the premise that the resolution to remove him from his position has already been agreed upon in advance.
Through his social media accounts, Ochoa questioned the impartiality of the special commission appointed by the Legislature, whose members he described as “executioners” within a process that he considers predetermined.
This reaction arises as a direct response to the vote that occurred in the National Congress, where a qualified majority of 91 deputies gave the green light to the impeachment procedure.
The measure is not exclusive to the CNE advisor, since the resolution of the legislative plenary session also covers three officials of the Electoral Justice Tribunal (TJE).
The decision was approved in a session marked by the rejection of the bench of the now opposition Freedom and Refoundation Party (Libre), with some of its 35 deputies blowing whistles, which did not prevent the reading of the complaints against the four officials.
The electoral officials are accused of actions contrary to the Constitution, negligence, incapacity and incompetence in the exercise of their position, during the 2025 electoral processes.
During the general election process last November, Ochoa was accused by councilors Hall and López of attacking democracy.
