SARAJEVO – The play “The Last Hour of the Piano”, by Adnan Lugonić, directed by Nina Nikolić, in Theater 071 at Sime Milutinovića 2/II will be performed on May 6 from 8:00 p.m., as part of the Stari Grad Municipality Day.
As stated in the announcement of Teatro 071, the apartment in Sime Milutinovića Sarajlije 2 will become an apartment in Bisental, a quiet East German town, where Jasmine, a refugee from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Frau Gut, a piano teacher, will meet.
“Although they come from different worlds, the two have developed a deep friendship. And while Jasmina’s daughter is practicing the piano in the next room, Jasmina and Frau Gut spend class time in their usual socializing. They will turn out to be the last,” the statement explained.
The play stars Selma Alispahić and Džana Džanić, who spoke in an interview for “Nezavisne” on the occasion of the play’s premiere.
“This play is a special challenge for me because in an intimate way, through a personal story, it talks about the universal theme of the struggle of refugees. It is a theme that strongly corresponds with the current state of the world, but also with the general principle of non-acceptance and lack of solidarity – which inevitably lead to divisions, conflicts and prejudices. At the same time, the play is deeply rooted in the feeling of loneliness of each individual, which arises precisely as a result of the absence of that same tolerance,” said director Nina Nikolić.
The playwright is Adnan Lugonić, set and costume designer Adisa Vatreš Selimović, composer Oliver Josifovski, photographer Velija Hasanbegović, while the poster design is signed by Almir Kurt Kugla.
The play was co-produced with Peripetija Production, and the project is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Canton of Sarajevo and the Municipality of Stari Grad in cooperation with the Multimedia Culture Center CZK.
