Włodzimierz Czarzasty, Speaker of the Sejm, did not take part in the celebrations of the National May 3rd Holiday, but instead – in the evening – appeared on TVP in liquidation. During the program, a bizarre situation occurred. It later turned out, however, that… it was a poorly staged setup.
Czarzasty and… “Happy Birthday” on Air
The National May 3rd Holiday commemorates the adoption of the Constitution of May 3, 1791. On this occasion, TVP in liquidation aired a program that… took a mocking approach to discussing the celebrations. Notably, neither Prime Minister Donald Tusk nor Speaker of the Sejm Włodzimierz Czarzasty took part in them.
“We went to the place where it all began. The place where the Constitution of May 3 was signed. What did the constitution give us? The constitution gave us freedom. The May holiday. And how does a Pole – a true Pole – express it? How does a Pole express freedom? Through a barbecue. But what kind? What kind of barbecue? A Polish barbecue. No eggplant. No peppers or other vegan nonsense. Over my dead body. And when I die, use my blood to make real blood sausage,” the hosts mocked.
Interestingly, the guest of the program was Speaker of the Sejm Włodzimierz Czarzasty. Unexpectedly, he said that on that day… he was celebrating his birthday. He then continued to mock a state holiday important to Polish citizens.
“Today is my birthday. I would like to tell you that people intuitively sense that this is a great holiday and they need to see what has been happening since the morning. Flags, marches,”
However, the real spectacle began right after these words. The hosts loudly sang “Happy Birthday” to the former member of the Polish United Workers’ Party. Watch the video below:
The “best” part is that the whole situation turned out to be staged. Why? Because, according to what Anna Maria Żukowska – from Czarzasty’s party – wrote on the X platform, the Speaker was not even in the country that day. And the program was not broadcast live at all. It had simply been prepared a week earlier.
