Monaco has formally committed to taking part in celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the United States, following the signing of a partnership agreement with the bipartisan America250 during a high-profile reception in Washington on Tuesday, April 28.
The event, hosted at Monaco’s embassy in the US capital by Ambassador Maguy Maccario Doyle alongside Rosie Rios, brought together leading figures from diplomatic, cultural and business circles to celebrate the long-standing relationship between the Principality and the United States.
Through the agreement, Monaco becomes one of the international partners contributing to the nationwide America250 commemorations, with planned initiatives expected to focus on cultural exchange, education and future-oriented international dialogue.
Among the guests attending the evening were Charles Rivkin, former US ambassador to France and Monaco; Bill Nelson; representatives from Paramount Pictures; and members of both the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation USA and the Princess Grace Foundation-USA.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Maccario Doyle described the partnership as a reflection not only of shared history, but also of a mutual desire to strengthen cooperation for the future. Rosie Rios meanwhile stressed the importance of international participation in the anniversary celebrations and highlighted the enduring relationship between Monaco and the United States.
The setting itself carried symbolic weight. The agreement was signed inside the Monaco ambassador’s residence, a property that once belonged to former US President Warren G. Harding.
The partnership is already expected to generate a series of initiatives linking the two countries. Bill Nelson is due to visit Monaco in the coming days for discussions with students on space exploration and scientific innovation, while Monaco’s cultural ties with the US will also be celebrated through a private screening of To Catch a Thief organised by the Motion Picture Association in tribute to Grace Kelly.
