The Specialized Prosecutor’s Office against Organized Crime of Lima Northwest and the National Police captured this criminal organization investigated for various events, including the armed assault perpetrated on March 22 on the Costa Verde where eight kilos of gold bars valued at more than a million dollars were allegedly stolen.
The mega-operation included the simultaneous raid of some 16 properties in various districts of Lima and Callao. During the intervention, the authorities seized 19 vehiclesamong them those that would have been used in the attack in San Miguel.

In total, and until the morning of April 10, the Public Ministry detailed that had achieved the preliminary arrest of eight people. Additionally, more than $9,000 in cash was seized, as well as short- and long-range firearms.

The prosecutor’s thesis indicates that, on the day of the assault, the network used 14 vehicles to intercept two cars who moved the cargo to a warehouse in Callao. The criminals, equipped with long-range weapons and bulletproof vests, overpowered the drivers César Sernaque and Elmer Valverde at the height of the Escardó climb to snatch the precious metal, a fact about which until now there is no formal complaint or verification of the missing gold.
Other criminal acts are attributed to this criminal gang, such as the theft of a vehicle with gold in San Martín de Porres and the interception of a van with technological equipment valued at $94,000, both of which occurred in January 2026. The organization had been operating since May 2025 to perpetrate aggravated robbery, hitmen and other crimes.
The tax investigations also link the detainees with the homicide of four people between January and December 2025. According to the Public Ministry, these murders would have been perpetrated under the modality of hitman with the aim of silencing individuals who knew the internal movements and operations of the criminal organization.
During the police action, an exchange of shots took place in which PNP Colonel Roger Cano was injuredhead of the Special Brigade against Organized Crime of Lima Norte, an event after which several investigators managed to flee from law enforcement forces.
