Traffic on the Majagual section of the Juan Pablo II highway has been restored after landslides and rocks caused by the intense rains of recent days, reported the Ministry of Public Works.
Brigades from the entity intervened in the area, using heavy equipment and two retro hammers to demolish the rocks, which allowed the road to be cleared.
“The area remains properly signposted and citizens are urged to drive with caution,” the entity said in a statement.
The landslide was the result of the effects of a trough that affects the national territory and which, according to the Emergency Operations Center (COE), has left 5 homes destroyed, 1,699 affected, 8,495 people displaced and at least 45 communities cut off.
