An official in Quang Chau Commune said the incident occurred in the early evening, when the man, a resident of the commune, suddenly fell while playing as a goalkeeper on a local pitch.
Emergency services received a call at around 6:30 pm reporting a suspected cardiac arrest case at Dien Dong medical station, where the victim had been taken by friends from the football field.
He showed symptoms consistent with a cardiac event, according to initial information from responders.
The man was later transferred to Dien Chau General Hospital for further treatment but did not survive.
Local authorities have visited the family to offer condolences and support funeral arrangements, the official said.
