Winner Nicolo Bulega
Sunday’s third race also ended in victory for Italian rider Nicolo Bulega, the overall championship leader, as the Ducati rider capped off a flawless weekend at the Hungarian round of the Superbike World Championship at Balaton Park Circuit.
In Sunday’s second race, Bulega’s teammate, Iker Lecuona, tried to overtake him at the start, but the front-runner managed to get his bike in front of Lecuona after the first corner, and the two quickly pulled away from the rest of the field.
However, the battle between the two factory Ducati riders never materialized, as Bulega increased his lead over his teammate lap after lap.
Bulega won his 16th consecutive race in the premier class, further improving the record he set on Saturday. The Italian rider set another record: this was his 25th consecutive podium finish, tying the record held by last year’s champion, Turkish rider Toprak Razgatlioglu (now competing in MotoGP), and American Colin Edwards.
