It comes as little surprise that the Civil Servants’ Association welcomes the news that a state employee will soon “only” need 10, instead of 15 years of state service, to obtain civil servant status.
The Chamber unanimously approved the corresponding draft legislation on Wednesday. It was a long-standing concern of both the AEE and the General Confederation of Civil Servants (CGFP).
In a press release on Sunday, however, the AEE expresses their surprise about critical voices in parliament. Deputies had questioned whether civil servant status might lose its attractiveness if entry becomes easier. The AEE points out that the transition from one status to the other is subject to strict conditions. State employees must also pass examinations, fulfil their workload requirements, complete training at the National Institute for Public Administration (INAP) and then pass the promotion examination, in parallel with civil servants.
