The exhibition “In Memory of Our Heroes,” dedicated to Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War, opened at the Saparmurat Turkmenbashy the Great Museum of Fine Arts of Turkmenistan, TASS reports.
“Victory Day symbolizes the peacefulness of humanity, the principles of brotherhood, humanism, and kindness,” the agency quotes National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, as saying in the exhibition’s annotation.
As noted in the statement, the exhibition includes over 50 paintings and sculptures by Turkmen artists, telling the story of life in the country during the war years, the contribution of Turkmen citizens to the Victory, and the heroism of soldiers.
For example, Robert Shabunts’s painting “Farewell” depicts a father bidding farewell to his son, who is leaving for the front, TASS reports. Chary Ovvaev’s work “Nobody Forgotten – Nothing Forgotten” is dedicated to war heroes. And Yarly Bayramov’s painting “Everything for the Front, Everything for Victory!” depicts the contribution of Turkmen women, the article states. The painting is based on historical data about the donation of approximately 7,400 kg of gold and silver jewelry, as well as warm clothing for soldiers, to the Defense Fund.
The exhibition also features paintings by Turkmen artists such as Izzat Klychev and Ashyr Nuryev, as well as sculptures and ceramics by Agajan Kakaesenov, Muhammet Yuzbashov, and others, the source notes.
According to TASS, a total of 300 thousand Turkmen citizens took part in combat during the Great Patriotic War, of whom 130 thousand were awarded orders and medals, 104 were awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union, and 15 became full Cavaliers of the Order of Glory.
