Select legislator in Penal Code The penalty imposed for manslaughter, as Article 238 of the same law stipulates that whoever accidentally causes the death of another person as a result of his negligence, recklessness, lack of caution, or failure to observe laws, decisions, bylaws, and regulations shall be punished with imprisonment for a period of no less than six months and a fine not exceeding two hundred pounds, or one of these two penalties.
The penalty shall be imprisonment for a period of not less than one year and not exceeding five years and a fine of not less than one hundred pounds and not exceeding five hundred pounds, or one of these two penalties, if the crime occurred as a result of the perpetrator’s serious breach of what is imposed on him by the principles of his job, profession, or craft, or he was using intoxicants or narcotics when he committed the mistake that resulted in the accident, or he refrained at the time of the accident from helping the person against whom the crime occurred, or from requesting assistance for him even though he was able to do so.
The penalty shall be imprisonment for a period of not less than one year and not to exceed seven years if the act results in the death of more than three people. If another circumstance mentioned in the previous paragraph is present, the penalty shall be imprisonment for a period of not less than one year and not to exceed ten years.
