Italy signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty on 2 May 1975, which in art. II reads: «Each of the non-nuclear-weapon states that are parties to the Treaty undertakes not to receive nuclear weapons from anyone.» According to an old Ipsos survey, 80% of Italians are against the fact that there are atomic weapons located in our country. Yet illegally, against the obvious wishes of its citizens, and without there having been any real discussion, Italy hosts a third of the nuclear warheads present in Europe.
In Italy there are now, as far as I know, between 70 and 90 B61 nuclear bombs, models 3, 4 and 7, stored in two places: 50 at the Aviano basenear Pordenone, e around 30 in the Ghedi basenear Brescia. This means that in the event of conflicts, Italians in Veneto and Lombardy will be the first to be roasted alive, because of course in case of conflict, the first thing to do is shoot at enemy weapons.
