‘Freedom 250’ Concert

Miami/As part of the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States, the Artefactus Cultural Project, with the support of the National Endowment for the Arts, presents a concert that proposes a dialogue between historical memory and contemporary creation. The event will be starred by the Cuban pianist, composer, arranger and musical director Rony Cintra, born in Santiago de Cuba and trained in the academic tradition of the Island, where he graduated with a Gold Degree in Musical Composition from the University of the Arts of Havana.

The program Freedom 250 alternates original compositions by the artist, including preludes for piano, the second movement of his Concerto for piano and orchestra and the work Immigrant for piano and strings, with emblematic pieces from the jazz repertoire, including works by Erroll Garner and Billy Strayhorn. This combination traces a sound journey that intertwines Cintra’s classical training with jazz influences, in a proposal that reflects on identity, migration and cultural heritage.

The concert will take place on Saturday, May 9 at 8:30 pm, with free admission, in an evening that is emerging as a meeting point for diverse audiences interested in the intersections between academic music, jazz and contemporary narratives of the Cuban diaspora.
