A large police contingent left at 10:30 p.m. on Sunday from the Model Barracks, in trucks and motorcycles, heading to different points identified as conflictive in Guayaquil.
The intervention is part of the operations carried out during the early hours of this Monday May 4within the framework of the curfew in force between May 3 and 18.
The measure applies from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. in the provinces of Guayas, Manabí, Santa Elena, Los Ríos, El Oro, Pichincha, Esmeraldas, Santo Domingo and Sucumbíos, as well as in the cantons of La Maná (Cotopaxi), Las Naves and Echeandía (Bolívar) and La Troncal (Cañar).
Strategy based on intelligence and citizen data
During operations in the district New Prosperinathe uniformed officers carried out searches in homes previously identified through intelligence work.
According to the commander of Zone 8, Walter Villarroelthe actions respond to an articulated work: “This is practically being guided by the investigative subsystem and we have entered not only to identify people, but also to gather information and establish its link with ongoing investigations.”
The commander added that citizens have provided data through technological tools. “He QR code It has been an important tool of proximity to the community. We receive a lot of information, we are processing it and that is why we are here,” he explained.
Intervention in “lethality nuclei” and mobile deployment
The Police indicated that, after a georeferencing of the crime, areas classified as “cores of lethality”.
“We are strongly reaching out to these sectors that generate security problems for us. We continue carrying out raids and articulating the three subsystems. We are going to reach all the sectors where citizens have demanded security from us,” said Villarroel.
As part of the strategy, control points and mobile deployments have been defined throughout the city. “In the 12 districts we have 25 checkpoints19 mobile operations in convoy and the 24-hour relief and response patrol service,” he explained.
He added that the objective is to close spaces where crimes such as drug sales and the presence of people required by law have been identified.
100% operational capacity and 80 daily raids
Regarding operational capacity, the police chief assured that the entire contingent is active. “We are with him 100% staffrespecting shifts and distributed in the sectors. We have coordinated inter-institutionally with the municipality, the ATM and other entities to comply with the regulations,” he indicated.
Regarding the results, he specified that there are objectives in process. “We have some targets that we are going to lift with orders from the competent authority. We expect positive results. We not only work at dawn, but 24 hours a day,” he said.
In this context, the institution plans to intensify interventions. “For each day we plan to carry out about 80 raids in Zone 8, which includes Durán, Guayaquil and Samborondón,” Villarroel stated.
Regarding the prioritized sectors, he mentioned districts such as New ProsperinaPascuales, Florida, the south of the city – including Esteros – and downtown areas such as 9 de Octubre. (YO)
