(KPL) Attapeu Province has received 1 million high-quality Arabica coffee seeds, equivalent to 600 kilograms, to support the development of its local coffee industry.
The donation, valued at approximately US$200,000, was provided by Lolina International Industrial Investment Co., Ltd., in cooperation with the Ya Lan Foundation for the Promotion and Development of Lao Coffee and Social Assistance.
In addition to supplying seeds, the organizations will offer technical assistance to improve coffee varieties through the Attapeu Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment. The initiative aims to strengthen agricultural production and increase incomes for local communities.
The handover ceremony was held at the Hom Village Agricultural Technical Center, with representatives from both the donor organizations and provincial authorities in attendance.
Provincial officials expressed appreciation for the support, noting that the project represents an important step in expanding coffee cultivation in Attapeu. Authorities are prioritizing coffee as a key crop to generate stable income and improve livelihoods, particularly for rural and multi-ethnic communities.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment pledged to ensure effective use of the seeds to deliver sustainable results and contribute to poverty reduction efforts in the province.
