Katla Ólafsdóttir has been elected the new president of the Student Council of the University of Iceland. She takes over from Arent Orra Jónsson Claessen in May.
Röskva won a majority in the last elections to the Student Council, and therefore their representatives will take over the running of the Student Council office this May. Vaka has been in the majority for the last two years and Arent Orri was president of SHÍ for the last two years.
Katla will graduate this spring with a bachelor’s degree in political science, and for the past three years has been involved in student politics, both as a leader and election director of Röskva.
Kjartan Helgi Guðmundsson, a student in industrial engineering, was elected vice president of SHÍ. Then María Björk Stefánsdóttir, the outgoing head of Röskva and a student in chemical engineering, takes over the position of education fund representative.
