The Grand Mosque of Paris announced the launch of the first session of the international competition for memorizing and reciting the Holy Qur’an, as part of the celebration of the one hundred (100) year anniversary of the opening of this prominent religious and cultural edifice (1926 AD – 2026 AD). This initiative comes to encourage the younger generations to engage with the Holy Qur’an, and is keen to consolidate care for the Book of God Almighty by memorizing, reciting, and contemplating.
The competition, which is the first of its kind organized by the mosque at the international level, aims to establish the culture of memorizing the Holy Qur’an (complete memorization) and mastering the provisions of its recitation and interpretation according to the rules of Tajweed, in addition to highlighting the spiritual and moral values that the Holy Qur’an carries. It also seeks to motivate young people from all over the world to engage in this field, and to enhance the spirit of positive competition among them, while highlighting the educational role of the Grand Mosque of Paris.
Nominations will be open to those wishing to apply until May 31st, with the competition going through several selective stages extending from June to September, before concluding with the final qualifiers that will be held in November 2026 in its crowded expanses.
A statement by the management of the Grand Mosque of Paris stated that the jury will consist of an elite group of internationally known scholars and experts in the fields of Qur’an memorization, Quranic readings, and the arts of recitation, which will ensure a high level of professionalism and accuracy in evaluating the participants. Contestants will also be provided with a detailed internal system that explains the conditions for participation and evaluation mechanisms.
According to the same statement, participants are required to have completely memorized the Holy Qur’an while adhering to the rules of Tajweed, and to be between 18 and 35 years old, with the door to participation open to both sexes and different nationalities without exception.
