Home and Design – Here’s what most people do wrong with grilling: This thing can ruin your whole experience

The best moments in life usually happen unplanned, suddenly. Or, they involve really very little planning. Like having a barbecue with friends – it’s enough to take a look at the sun-drenched balcony, terrace or yard, and the idea already pops up in your head: “Why not invite the team to a barbecue?” Preparing a barbecue is just such a ritual: simple in form, but rich in experience. It brings people together, slows down the pace and turns cooking into a social event that is equally enjoyed during the preparation and consumption of food.

But behind that relaxed scene lies a series of small decisions that can make the difference between an average experience and a really good one. From the choice of grill according to the space in which it will be used, to the method of preparation and temperature control – every detail affects the final taste, but also how simple or demanding the entire process will be. We said, the best things happen spontaneously, but they are even better with a little preparation – like going to BAUHAUS for a new grill and accessories for successful grilling.

The new issue of D&D magazine is on sale: Apartments and houses in Croatia that break the rules – and look perfect!

Choosing a grill should rarely start with the question of price. It is much more meaningful to start from the space and the way of use – where it will stand, how often it will be lit and for whom the barbecue is being made. This is exactly where most customers make the first wrong step: a model that is too big ends up on the balcony, and one that is too small in the garden, so grilling becomes a series of compromises instead of pleasure. When the space, habits and type of grill are matched, only then does the price get a realistic context.

On the balcony, wishes quickly collide with reality. Limited space, close proximity to neighbors and house rules impose clear rules of the game. In such conditions electric grills prove to be the most reasonable solution: they generate minimal smoke, are easy to use and do not require additional logistics such as gas bottles or coal storage. That is why they often become the first choice of those who live in apartments.

However, electric models do not always give that distinctive meat flavor that comes from smoke and embers. If the aroma is a priority, and the conditions allow it, small gas grill it can be a good compromise because it heats up quickly and allows precise temperature control. The most common mistake on the balcony is not the wrong type of grill, but the wrong size – in practice, it turned out that grill models with a large cooking surface are used less often, and often just take up precious space on the balcony.

If you decide on an electric grill, several criteria make the difference between an average and a good choice. The device type is the first filter: tabletop models are compact and easily portable, free-standing models offer more comfort and working height, while contact grills enable fast and even grilling thanks to heating on both sides. Frequency of use is also key: if you grill often, the device must be easily accessible and easy to maintain. Practical details such as detachable plates or the possibility of washing in the dishwasher become crucial here.

The dimensions of the grill determine the pace of grilling, because a larger surface means fewer trips and faster preparation – but only if you have space to store and use it. The power of the device additionally affects the experience: models around 2000 W offer an optimal balance between performance and consumption, while extremely high temperatures are often not necessary – it is more important that the heat can be precisely and quickly regulated. In the higher segment, additional functions such as sensors, digital screens or even connection to mobile applications appear, which raises the experience to a new level of comfort.

If you are thinking about an electric grill that meets all the criteria, the model Cozze E 500 could be an ideal choice. It impresses with a power of 2.1 kW and compact dimensions, which makes it suitable for small terraces, balconies or camping, but it can also be used indoors – thanks to the almost smokeless use, typical of all electric grills.

If you want your electric grill to look more classic, on legs, there is a model Weber Lumin Compact. This high-quality grill with an extremely elegant appearance offers, in addition to grilling, the possibility of steaming, smoking, heating and defrosting. The extremely powerful 2.2 kW heater can create a temperature above 315 °C and heat up the grill in 10-15 minutes. The grill stand provides a comfortable working height and storage of accessories.

The terrace opens up a much wider spectrum of possibilities, because there is no shortage of space – at least not like when it comes to a balcony or loggia. Here gas grills on the trolley they come to their full expression and represent a kind of standard of modern grilling. They offer speed, power and flexibility, from direct baking to slower, indirect food preparation. However, when choosing, you should look beyond the design. The number of burners, the quality of the grates and the stability of the structure are crucial for even baking and durability.

A common mistake on terraces is not the grill itself, but the area around it. Gas models require a kind of ‘air zone’, enough space for safe handling and food preparation. Free-standing models offer complete functionality and practicality, portable ones are suitable for smaller gatherings or trips, while built-in models come to the fore in more ambitious projects such as summer kitchens.

Code gas grills size and strength go hand in hand with habits. Occasional users will not need complex systems, while those who frequently grill will appreciate the larger grilling surface and additional burners, especially for preparing side dishes. Power above 10 kW is sufficient for larger gatherings, but it is equally important that the heat is evenly distributed. Accessories – thermometers, side burners and folding shelves – make the difference between a basic and a functionally rounded experience.

Choice gas grills is really big, you can choose from smaller but powerful models, such as Cozze Plancha G-700to truly impressive specimens, like models Kingstone Cliff 6500 Beast Black Edition. This gas grill is equipped with six main and side burners with a total power of 24 kW, which makes it an excellent choice for food preparation and for larger home entertainment. The piezo ignition ensures easy and safe ignition of the burner by simply pressing a button, the double-walled enamel lid with a thermometer allows for easy control of cooking, and the Kingstone Modular System (KMS) allows for the preparation of various dishes because you can use various accessories for preparing dishes, such as a paella pan, a pizza stone…

In the garden and yard, the rules are changing significantly. This is where what many consider true grilling comes into play: heat, smoke and time. Wood and coal grills they ask for more engagement, but in return they offer an aroma that is difficult to replicate with other technologies. Spherical models, thanks to better air circulation, enable more even baking and greater control over the process.

It is interesting that the opposite error occurs here than on the balcony – buying a grill that is too small. In the garden, the grill is often used for gatherings, so capacity and robustness become crucial. Smaller models are enough for two to three people, medium ones cover family needs, while large grills become the center of larger gatherings. Accessories such as a thermometer in the lid, storage shelves and an ash cleaning system significantly facilitate use and maintenance.

Offer charcoal grill it might confuse you, but stick to the rules and choose based on how often and for how large a group you are grilling. Kingstone Round Grill with Bullet 57 Cover it is the perfect choice for all barbecue lovers or those who are about to become one. The spacious grill surface of 57 cm allows for a variety of food preparation, while the thermometer and air vents on the lid serve to control and regulate the heat. There is an ash pan under the grill, and you can use the lower shelf to store other necessary grilling accessories.

If you like classic barbecue fireplaces and the space allows it, it could be a good choice barbecue fireplace Liapor Lecca 004. The fireplace is made of high-quality liapor concrete (light concrete), with the option of adjusting the grate in three levels. The worktop is large enough (150×62 cm), and the firebox is spacious (64×40 cm), which guarantees smooth grilling and food preparation.

For those who like a slightly different direction, there it is Kamado Bono Media charcoal grillgreat for preparing food for a larger family or group of up to 10 people. The multipurpose ceramic grill enables direct and indirect cooking, thus covering a wide range of dishes and preparation techniques. The package includes a ceramic grill with a stand, side handles with hooks for hanging utensils, a tool for removing ash, a protective cover and pliers for safe handling of the stainless steel grill. A thermometer is built into the lid, which enables constant monitoring of the temperature during grilling without the need to open the grill and lose heat.

The summer kitchen represents the next step – the transformation of the grill from an occasional tool into a permanent element of the space. In such concepts, the grill becomes part of a wider whole with work surfaces, sink and storage. The most commonly used are built-in or larger gas models that offer high performance and aesthetic integration.

Here, the decision goes beyond the device itself. It is necessary to plan connections, ventilation and position in relation to the house and the movement of people. A well-designed summer kitchen functions as an extension of the interior and becomes a real place for gathering, cooking and spending time outdoors.

The good thing about outdoor kitchens is that you can completely adapt them to your needs. You can choose elements, length, height, everything you need to ideally fit into your space and meet all your needs. For example, three-part outdoor kitchen B401 provides the perfect combination of performance and design, and consists of a gas grill with 5 burners with a total power of 14.8 kW, a sink with a kitchen faucet and a refrigerator – which allows you to prepare many dishes that will impress your family or friends. An additional 4.5 kW side burner allows you to heat sauce or prepare a side dish on it, while the LED illuminated buttons facilitate operation and ensure better visibility, especially in the evening.

The moment the fire is lit is the part that often decides whether the grilling experience will be relaxed or frustrating. That’s exactly why barbecue accessories they become a key element of the whole process. IN BAUHAUS you can find almost everything in one place, from basic tools to specialized equipment that turns grilling into a precise culinary experience.

The offer includes a wide range of products, from tongs, spatulas and accessory sets, to thermometers, cleaning brushes and protective covers. In addition, there are also more advanced accessories such as baking plates, holders for fish and vegetables, and even smoking equipment or electric spits, and fireplace for lighting. Such variety shows how much grilling has developed: from simple roasting of meat to a controlled process in which every detail has its role.

A special place is occupied by practical elements that facilitate everyday use. Brushes and cleaning agents allow quick maintenance, while protective covers extend the life of the grill. Thermometers help achieve the perfect temperature without guesswork, and quality materials such as stainless steel ensure durability and resistance. Of course, there is also a wide selection of charcoal for the grillwhich will help you prepare dishes that will delight the whole family or your company.

Regardless of the space, a few mistakes keep repeating themselves. Focusing on price instead of function, neglecting dimensions and logistics, and ignoring one’s own habits are the most common reasons for dissatisfaction. Buying “just in case” or “for company” rarely turns out to be rational if the grill is used only occasionally.

That’s why it’s worth simplifying things: the right grill is not a universal solution, but a response to a specific space and lifestyle. The balcony seeks compactness and control, the terrace a balance of strength and practicality, the garden freedom and capacity, and the summer kitchen a long-term vision. When these variables line up, the choice becomes logical – and profitable in the long run.

In other words, the best grill is not the most expensive or the most popular, but the one that fits naturally into the space it will live in – and the way you actually use it.
