Financial Police Authority filed a criminal complaint to Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office Skopje against former president of Dental Chamber of Macedoniaas well as against the president and four members of the Commission for Professional Dental Issues, due to suspicion of abuse of official position.
According to the allegations, they acted illegally when issuing, renewing and extending licenses for the work of doctors of dentistry, which made possible a property benefit of about 515 thousand euros.
The first applicant, identified as M.D., exceeded his powers entrusted by the Ministry of Health, concluding agreements with non-existent associations for organizing continuing education. In this way, dentists gained points needed to renew their licenses.
Additionally, he was associated with DDDMM – Society of Doctors of Dental Medicine of Macedonia from Kumanovo, through which, according to the investigation, he bypassed the system and acted contrary to legal regulations.
In coordination with the rest of the suspects, the Commission issued decisions and concluded contracts for organizing a larger number of events than allowed, thus providing financial benefits to several associations, including Macedonian Dental Society and Dental Society of Albanians.
Funds from dentists’ subscriptions were paid to their accounts, while the associations were deliberately not registered as separate legal entities.
The total acquired property benefit, according to Financial Police Authorityamounts to 31,969,250 denars, that is, about 515 thousand euros.
The suspects are charged with the crime of “abuse of official position and authority” according to the Criminal Code of Macedonia.
