A court in Los Angeles rejected Cher’s request for guardianship of her son Elijah Blue Olman’s property, judging that there was not a sufficiently urgent reason for such a measure.
The decision was made at the hearing held on Friday, and the judge explained that she currently does not see a sufficiently urgent reason for the introduction of such a measure.
Sher filed for guardianship earlier this month, claiming that her son is “severely disabled” due to mental health and addiction issues, and that he is unable to manage his finances on his own.
Ilajdža Blu Olman participated in the hearing via video link directly from the psychiatric institution where he is currently located, reports Dnevni avaz.
His hospitalization is part of the competency determination process in two criminal cases pending against him in New Hampshire.
The judge pointed out that it is unlikely that Olman will be able to access the money from the fund of his late father, musician Greg Olman, while he is in the hospital, so the situation is not alarming as the singer claims.
The next payment from the fund is scheduled for May 1.
“He spends everything he gets on drugs”
In her request, Sher stated that all the money that her son receives should be “immediately wasted” on narcotics.
However, the judge was clear in her explanation:
“Many people have legal and financial problems, but that doesn’t automatically mean they need a guardian. I understand the family’s concerns, but that doesn’t prove that Mr. Olman lacks the ability to take care of himself,” the judge said.
This is not the first time that Sher has tried to take control of his son’s life.
The new request claims that Ilajdža’s life has “deteriorated significantly” and that he spends all his money exclusively on “drugs, expensive hotels and limousine transportation”.
Earlier, he revealed shocking information about his son
The singer previously made shocking claims that her son owed $18,000 to the dealer who found him, forcing him to borrow money from friends “to avoid serious injury”.
Also, it is stated that Olman has a debt of 200,000 dollars and that he did not pay income tax or alimony to his ex-wife.
