Despite the calm environment, about 1% of the machines (a total of 109 devices) were down during the vote. The reasons range from non-working printers and readers to curious cases where the devices were not plugged in at all. More serious are the cases with missing smart cards, for which the CEC is yet to check whether it was an accidental omission or a deliberate mistake.
The problem with the so-called “short bulletins” has appeared again, and this time there is a lack of definitive expert explanation as to whether the cause is software or printer wear and tear.
