During the past week, members of the First District of the Judicial Police of Oran Province were able to dismantle the organizational structure of a transnational criminal network active in organizing illegal immigration trips across the sea, according to what the General Directorate of National Security reported today, Saturday, May 2.
The operation resulted in the arrest of 77 people, including 10 masterminds and 67 subjects of Moroccan nationality, all of whom were brought before the Public Prosecutor at the Flaussen Court.
According to the same source, investigations initiated by district officers, under the supervision of the competent prosecution, led to the identification of the trip planners and the criminal approach followed in the assembly and transportation operations.
The investigations culminated in the arrest of 3 plotters and 51 Moroccans who were on board vehicles and buses on their way to the starting point at one of the state’s beaches.
After carrying out a raid on a residence used to house immigration candidates, 7 other masterminds and 16 Moroccans were arrested.
The operation also led to the seizure and recovery of sums of money amounting to 1,400 euros, 1,080 Moroccan dirhams, two field binoculars, in addition to 10 vehicles of various types that were used in the transportation of network members.
