According to the Hungarian Theater Society (MSZT), the creation of the Ministry Responsible for Social Relations and Culture in itself indicates that culture will have a special place in the new government structure. The fact that such a ministry with broad responsibilities is headed by an actor with strong political authority shows that culture does not appear as a “side field”, but as one of the central elements of the government’s operation, wrote Johanna Bodor, president of the MSZT, in response to Telex’s inquiry.
According to Bodor, Zoltán Tarr has emphasized the importance of restoring professional autonomy, transparent operation, decision-making based on dialogue and real cooperation several times in the past period, these aspects coincide with the basic principles of the Hungarian Theater Society.
The Hungarian Theater Society also announced that the goals set out in the ministerial candidate announcement – especially the liberation of artistic life from political influence and the strengthening of the cultural institutional system – can become a reality if they are followed by concrete, systemic steps: among others, the restoration of institutional autonomy, the transparency of funding and the rebuilding of professional-based decision-making.
The MSZT recommended cooperation in this process and is confident that the professional consultations will begin shortly. In preparation for this, a joint professional forum will soon be organized with the Theater Workers’ Union, the MASZK National Actors’ Association and the Independent Performing Arts Association, as well as with the involvement of partner organizations. As they wrote, they are confident that a common professional position can be established, which can provide a meaningful basis for governmental negotiations.
After last week’s general meeting, the Hungarian Theater Society put together a package of cultural proposals consisting of more than a hundred points, with which they would rethink the entire operation of the cultural system. Stupid then he saidtemper narrows clarity, real dialogue is needed instead.
Péter Magyar announced on Tuesdaythat Zoltán Tarr, the vice-president of the Tisza Party and head of the European Parliament delegation, will be the head of the Ministry for Social Relations and Culture. The future minister in this article we presented it.
