According to the online economy report, quoted by Asr Iran, at the Beijing Auto Show 2026, the Yang Wang BYD brand introduced both the U9 Extreme and U8L models, a four-seater luxury SUV that is placed in the very luxury segment. The U 8 L is expected to compete with the likes of the Maybach GLS 600, and previous reports suggested that it would be priced upwards of $179,400.
BYD has confirmed that the Yangwang Yu9 Extreme electric supercar has sold for more than $2760,000 per unit at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, the highest price ever recorded at the event, according to the company’s CEO Li Yunfei.
Based on the announced price, this is the most expensive car produced by BYD to date.
Li Yunfei, General Manager of Branding and Public Relations of BYD Group, announced that the U9 Extreme was the most expensive model sold at the exhibition. This car is limited to 30 units globally. At least one car was delivered at the event, with BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu personally delivering the car.
The pricing of this model is supported by a set of performance claims previously announced by BYD. The U9 Extreme recorded a lap time of 6:59.157 at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, which puts it at the top of the production EV category. It has also set records at several Chinese circuits, including Zhuzhou, Zhuhai, Chengdu Tianfu and Shanghai.
The technical specifications include a declared power of more than 3000 horsepower and an electrical architecture of 1200 volts. The car is equipped with BYD’s fully active DiSus X suspension system and uses reinforced brake components including carbon ceramic discs.

Yang Wang operates as BYD’s premium sub-brand and targets the low-volume, high-price segment. The limited production of 30 units of the U9 Extreme is in line with this strategy and emphasizes exclusivity rather than scale.
Yang Wang reported domestic sales of 945 units in the first quarter of 2026, up 80.3 percent year-over-year, from 524 units in the first quarter of 2025. Quarterly sales were down 58.0 percent from Q4 2025, when 2,248 units were recorded.
