As part of efforts to boost international cooperation and serve the public interest, the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity approved the assignment of the Acting Director General of the Customs Authority on an official mission to Italy to visit the Italian company Engineering (Software).
Accordingly, a meeting was held on Monday, April 27, 2026, bringing together the Acting Director General of the Customs Authority and his accompanying delegation with the company’s Chairman, who was joined by his special advisor, Majed Ghaith, to assess the technical requirements of the automated inspection office.
The company’s Chairman expressed his appreciation for the Director General’s efforts in resolving a previous issue, which resulted in a fair settlement between the two parties under the supervision of the Attorney General’s Office.
For his part, the Director General stressed the importance of activating the automated inspection system, enhancing the efficiency of personnel working in this field, and ensuring the provision of technical requirements, including spare parts and regular maintenance.
The discussions also touched on a previously signed supplementary contract, which is expected to help address operational gaps within the Authority.
The meeting further explored mechanisms to maintain the readiness of equipment and ensure optimal maintenance to protect it from misuse or tampering. The company’s Chairman confirmed plans to open a maintenance office in Libya and provide permanent technical staff to carry out the required tasks efficiently.
A series of follow-up meetings is expected in the coming period to further strengthen cooperation and achieve the desired objectives.
