24-year-old Piotr Hancke is a Polish influencer known by the nickname Łatwogang. His 9-day charity stream made history, breaking a Guinness World Record and raising over 250 million PLN for the Cancer Fighters Foundation, which supports children suffering from cancer. In a small studio apartment, during the broadcast, things happened that would never occur under normal circumstances. Feuding influencers shaved their heads, fighters competed against each other playing hand games, rappers who had not spoken for 17 years reconciled in front of millions of Poles, and Polish entrepreneurs tried to outdo one another in the amounts they donated to children battling cancer.
It all started with a single song. Rapper Bedoes recorded the track “Ciągle tutaj jestem” with Maja Mecan, a girl battling cancer, in which she confronts her illness. Meanwhile, YouTuber Łatwogang announced a 9-day stream during which he would listen to that very song non-stop.
It began calmly, with the fundraising goal set at 500,000 PLN, which was to go to the Cancer Fighters Foundation. The 24-year-old was moved to tears when he reached his goal in a short time – and that was only the beginning. Well-known figures began appearing in Łatwogang’s apartment, wanting to support the fundraiser with their presence. The situation gained momentum after singer Doda called Magda Gessler during the live broadcast to reconcile and ask the restaurateur for the best recipe for rose-filled doughnuts. The singer then called Justyna Steczkowska, and together they performed the song “Gaja”.
A major reconciliation also took place in the apartment between feuding influencers Friz and Sylwester Wardęga, whose head was shaved bald by Wersow. Those who could not attend in person joined online. Viewers could admire Robert and Anna Lewandowski dancing on screen.
Actors from popular Polish TV series such as Rodzinka.pl, 1670, and Furiosa also visited Łatwogang. Actor Maciej Musiał, who came to clean the apartment, announced that influencer Maffashion would shave her head in solidarity with children suffering from cancer. She kept her promise, followed by Katarzyna Nosowska, whose head was shaved in Łatwogang’s apartment by Agata Kulesza. Shortly after, Ola Domańska and Edyta Pazura also went under the clippers.
Singer Roksana Węgiel and influencer Andziaks also visited with their husbands, shaving their heads and singing “Barka”.
There was also a showdown between Artur Szpilka and Arkadiusz Wrzosek in hand games and rock-paper-scissors. During the broadcast, rappers Tede and Peja, who had been in conflict for 17 years, also reconciled. Meanwhile, Małgorzata Kożuchowska recreated the most famous scene from the TV series “M jak miłość”, featuring Hanka Mostowiak dying after crashing into cardboard boxes.
The end of the stream was postponed twice. However, by Sunday afternoon, only the organizers – Łatwogang and Bedoes – as well as children suffering from cancer and their families remained.
The stream ultimately ended at 9:37 PM, the hour of the death of Pope John Paul II. The official part of the fundraiser concluded with a staggering amount of over 250 million PLN, but donations continued to come in for many hours afterward. The largest donors included Polish entrepreneurs and celebrities. InPost transferred 6.3 million PLN, XTB – 6.2 million PLN, ZEN – 5.5 million PLN, Kuchnia Vikinga – 5.1 million PLN, and WK Dzik – 5 million PLN.
Over the course of 9 days, the elite of Polish cinema, music, sports, and culture appeared in Piotr Hancke’s apartment. Visitors waited in line in the hallway, and the broadcast was discussed across all media outlets. The charity fundraiser, which broke a Guinness World Record, was also heard about abroad. Even Chris Martin, the lead singer of the iconic band Coldplay, sent a recording for the organizers.
