Yesterday afternoon, Wednesday 29 April 2026, the Holy Father Leo XIV spoke by telephone with His Excellency Mr. António Costa, President of the European Council.
During the cordial conversation, the situation in the Middle East was discussed, with particular attention to the West Bank, in the State of Palestine, and the condition of Christians in southern Lebanon.
Continuing the conversation, the Holy Father shared some reflections on the recent Apostolic Journey to Africa, underlining the importance of interreligious dialogue, the promotion of peace and support for the most vulnerable communities on the continent.
