PARAMARIBO – Exhibitors and exhibitors are eagerly looking forward to the agricultural fair organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries (LVV) from Friday 1 to Sunday 3 May. The event should become an important platform where entrepreneurs, farmers, students and investors meet to share knowledge and take advantage of new opportunities.
Sheldon Hupsel from YCHU will demonstrate at the fair how healthy dairy products can be made with Surinamese milk. At the same time, he wants to draw attention to supporting local farmers and gradually replacing imported products with locally produced alternatives.
For Anand Ramcharan of Payles Garden, the fair offers an opportunity to grow together with other companies and present special plant varieties that the public has not seen before. On behalf of Vitalo NV, Urvina Satimin and Ashwin Vasilda draw attention to the fact that their company produces high-quality and certified animal feed. This supports farmers to produce responsibly and achieve better results.
According to Quintis Ristie, member of the organizing working group, the agricultural fair is of great importance for the development of the sector in Suriname. At a time when food security, food safety and sustainability are central, the event brings together all important stakeholders. “It is important that we all work in the same direction. Everyone contributes to the future of our agricultural sector,” says Ristie.
The participants have now been extensively informed about the organization of the fair during a previously held teach-in by LVV. They received clear guidelines about what they can expect and how they can optimally organize their participation. Since then, the exhibitors have been busy preparing to present their products, innovations and services to the public as attractively as possible.
Priya Janki of NV Primaar KK Spaar sees her participation as an opportunity to make society more aware of the spin-off effect that can arise between farmers, processors and the business community. Magda Landveld from the Mato organization emphasizes the empowerment of young people and seniors through simple agricultural activities that can open up new opportunities.
Carmela Fernandes from Danisa Mozaïek is also looking forward to the start of the fair. She wants to inspire visitors with creative and sustainable applications that give materials a second life. Entrepreneur Gerrit Barron of Food and Beverage will use his participation to share knowledge and products and motivate others to jointly contribute to the development of the country.
During the fair, visitors can become acquainted with various developments within the agricultural sector. From modern technologies such as smart irrigation systems and mechanization to small-scale production methods for home use: the range is wide. With this initiative, LVV emphasizes the importance of cooperation, knowledge sharing and innovation as a driver for further growth of the agricultural sector in Suriname.
