The former deputy of the Socialist Party, Petro Koçi, has reacted on social networks regarding the recent clashes between Prime Minister Edi Rama and MP Elisa Spiropali, where the head of the government has warned Spiropali to be expelled from the party, after her criticism of the way the SP operates.
In his reaction, Koçi emphasizes that the relationship with the Socialist Party should not be seen for personal career, but to try to improve it.
“Loving the Socialist Party is different from needing the Socialist Party. Those who love it try to improve it, perfect it, because they feel pained by the efforts, sufferings, sacrifices and contributions of thousands of its militants over the years. Those who simply need the party for a career and to get rich, often steal its power, misuse it and tarnish its public morality“, he says.
Among other things, Koçi emphasizes that “the corrupt or the traitors of the popular vote towards the SP try to cover up the problems or regressive phenomena, build schemes that avoid the power of the membership and behave arrogantly like former flag bearers, but dressed in Armani”.
The former deputy states that the government should not expect that only SPAK and GJKKO will fight corruption, but intervene with administrative measures against any official who results in violations, especially financial ones, from KLSH controls or state audits.
“SP has all the energy, experience and wisdom to correct itself in every aspect, to move forward in a successful government“, he says, while adding that “Critical voices should in any case preserve ethics and ensure constructive self-restraint, so as not to leave room for the corrupt to carry the banner of the principle of unity”.
Petro Koç’s reaction:
Loving the Socialist Party is different from needing the Socialist Party.
Those who love her try to improve her, perfect her because they feel pained by the efforts, sufferings, sacrifices, contributions of thousands of her militants over the years. Those who simply need the party for careers and to get rich often steal its power, squander it and tarnish its public morality.
If things don’t go well, those who love SP try to intervene by analyzing, advising and proposing.
The corrupt or the traitors of the popular vote of confidence in the SP try to cover up problems or regressive phenomena. They build schemes that avoid the power of party membership in decision-making processes. They behave with the arrogance of a power delegated from above. They set the political climate in the party. They behave like old fashionistas but wearing Armani ama.
That’s why I asked to balance the relationship by giving the membership at least half of the power of the delegates. The Republic should be removed from the hands of the directors and delegates and handed over to the sovereign and his representatives.
The government should not expect corruption to be fought only by SPAK and GJKKO, but to intervene decisively with administrative measures against any official who results in violations, especially financial ones, from KLSH controls or state audits.
The party should become more collegial in representative decision-making and institutionally respect the evaluation of the SP membership for important political issues.
The institutional approach aimed at transforming the party into a democratic instrument of citizens’ participation in government during the entire period of exercising the mandate.
Critical voices in every case must maintain ethics and ensure constructive self-restraint in order not to leave room for the corrupt to hold the banner of the principle of unity.
The SP has all the energy, experience and wisdom to correct itself in every aspect, to move forward in a successful government that meritoriously realizes the European integration of the country and that challenges a miserable opposition to return in the upcoming electoral confrontations.
